Party Crunch: County Businesses Cut Their Christmas Celebrations.
Businesses across Gloucestershire have vetoed Christmas parties for their teams, because of the credit crunch.
Robert Jenkins, owner of the popular Inn at Fossebridge, near Cirencester, said:" We do not have a single company party booking from any company this year. But we think it is to be expected. Similar party venues have told us the same".
The inn had five major events last Christmas, with smaller department get togethers.
"It is very much a sign of the times; many people have told us quite rightly that they'd sooner have a job than a party", added Robert, who took over the Inn at Fossebridge almost four years ago.
Christmas Day family bookings, however, are already a sellout with prospective dinners sadly being turned away...and New Year's Eve party is already a success, but there is availability for more to attend.
Robert also explained that bookings are already building for shortbreak stays in 2009, with special offers based upon three nights for the cost of two, four for three and five for four.
"People are telling us that they are hedging their bets for next year, with shorter, but high quality breaks. The Cotswolds offer so much to the holiday maker and we are delighted they are discovering that our region has something for every age and taste".
