A picture from the past of The Inn at Fossebridge creates a "who's it from?" mystery
A postcard showing The Inn at Fossebridge and sent to loved ones by guests 160 years ago, has been unearthed in an old collection of photographs and donated to owner Robert Jenkins.
Because, he is so impressed by the sepia tone, it is being reprinted and will be sold in the hotel for £1.00 each.
The postcard shows the west side of the hotel, with guests playing tennis on a former court there. It is especially interesting because one of the players is very much in an ankle length dress of the day and bonnet.
The postcard was kindly left in an enveloped by a lady who signed herself Kathryn Green, whose aunt discovered it while searching her late grandfather's picture collection.
Robert Jenkins said: "It is a wonderful addition to our memorabilia and we would love to say thank you properly, perhaps showing Kathryn over the hotel and entertaining her to a meal, but unfortunately we do not know any other details about her.
If she reads this I hope she will call me on 01285 720721 so that we can arrange something".
More details about the Inn, which is situated near Cirencester in Gloucestershire can seen at www.fossebridgeinn.co.uk
Since its acquisition by Robert Jenkins four years ago, it has been fully refurbished with eight beautiful bedrooms all named after Cotswold towns and villages, the four acres of grounds, with a lake and river, are seen as an enchanting location for parties, wedding celebrations, and company events.
The English-French style cuisine is created by a team lead by Robert's daughter, Elizabeth, a Pru Leith graduate and French Head Chef Damien Dupuis.
