Hello Samantha,  

I write to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay with you over the weekend.  

The most frequently used expression by all who attended was "brilliant"!   Your rooms are extremely comfortable, your food is excellent and the service impeccable. We had a really enjoyable time and I thank you for looking after us so well.  

As you know, some of our party had not met for thirty years and others not at all, but the ambiance created by the Inn at Fossebridge produced such a friendly atmosphere that it appeared that everyone had known each other for years.   I have to apologise if some of my party kept your staff up rather late on Saturday. I departed at a civilised hour of 11.30 pm, but I understand you had to start clearing the table at 1.30 am to make a point that those still revelling should go to bed.  

I have already had many calls of appreciation from the family and suggestions that we make it an annual event. If that is the decision, I will get back to you in due course.  

Thank you again for looking after us so well.

Good morning Samantha,

A huge thank you from Caroline and myself for organising the party so well on Saturday, we received great comments about the food and the venue, everyone loved it. It went like clockwork and we all had such a fantastic evening. The staff were really helpful and kind to us. Thank you again for your help and please do pass on our compliments to the chef for such lovely food.

We had been talking about that evening for literally years and to be honest we couldn’t have wished it to be better.

Dear Robert and Samantha

How kind of you to send a wedding card to us - thank you so much.

However we both want to say what a wonderful job you did on September 5th 2009 and what a big part you played in making our day perfect. You were so organised and efficient and yet at the same time struck a note of informality that we wanted.

We have had so much positive feedback especially about the delicious food. The Pimms table laid out on the lawn as we arrived was something we shall never forget!

Warm and efficient welcome from the landlord. Attentive, efficient and friendly young staff in attractive old world bar. Striking old Cotswold stone building off Fosse Way with big lawned garden at rear and landscaped pond next to upper reaches of Cotswold river. Attractive room and comfortable beds. Very helpful in returning a valuable item I had left behind. Great job and many thanks.

We had a really lovely stay at The Inn and wish to thank your staff at reception, the breakfast room and the pub for their kindness and understanding in assisting us with our 19 months old twins.

It was really great to be able to feed them in the pub at quieter times and to have their food warmed up in your microwave. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Yesterday, myself and my partner took a long-owed day off. We drove south from Warwick in the rain, played crazy golf and ate ice-cream in Weston in the rain and dodged round Glastonbury and Bath in the rain. We escaped the rain briefly by taking out a second mortgage to be entertained at Wookey Hole. We were, to be blunt, a little jaded.

Driving home, the rain eased and our stomachs started rumbling. I had in mind that we'd round off the day at some quaint Cotswold pub for a top-notch dinner...and was losing hope as my partner snoozed like a baby in the passenger seat.

Cornering a steep hill just as dusk was falling, recognition hit me and I screeched into the Fossebridge Inn car park, much to the visible delight of the lorry driver who had been hard on my bumper for the last 10 miles and much to the shock of my snoozy companion. "This is it!" I announced over-confidently. I had stayed with you on a short break a million years ago and just happened to recognise the name in time.

To summarise, we had THE most delicious meal served by THE most pleasant and welcoming staff. The guys behind the bar made us feel right at home and were warm and smiley. While we waited for our starter, unbidden they bought iced water and a basket of the most gloriously tasty bread to our table (at no extra charge I was delighted to find out). We shared the fishcake starter and it was nothing short of magnificent. OK, that might sound a little OTT, but it was truly delicious (and we are self-confessedly hard customers to please). For main I had the chicken on aubergine/potato with broth. I found myself making lots of "mmmm-mmm" noises as I savoured each mouthful - it was fabulous. Ric had the sirloin and was equally impressed. Cooked JUST to order (so hard to get right) and a big decent serving. To balance this accolade, the skinny chips were a tad hard, but by now we were ready to forgive that!

We were totally tempted by the dessert menu and did consider how cheeky it would be to ask for the Cheese Board to go. But our fully expanded stomachs declined, only because if we had managed to haul ourselves away from the cosy log-burner, we would both have fallen asleep on the drive home! All this and it didn't break the bank.

So, I just wanted to let you know that you have two very satisfied customers who are saving up for a long weekend with you later in the summer.

I know Christmas Day is now a mere memory and you are probably thinking about next Christmas, however my family and I would just like to thank you again for a delicious Christmas dinner. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and the ambience lovely.

This was the first time we had visited a restaurant on Christmas Day for lunch in our 39 years of marriage and it has certainly set a precedent for the future.
