Cotswolds environment key to more updates at The Inn at Fossebridge

A major Gloucestershire hotel has adopted blue slates for refurbishment on one of its buildings to ensure it is more in keeping with the Cotswolds.

Work carried out to a barn in the grounds of the Inn at Fossebridge just after the second world war, included provision of concrete tiles.

But as the building is the first stage of broad ranging refurbishment to outbuildings and is close to the A429 road, owner Robert Jenkins decided the old tiles must go, to be replaced by blue slates, seen on buildings throughout the county.

"The cost versus concrete is several thousands more, but I think all building owners in Gloucestershire have a responsibility to be mindful that the Cotswolds is a very special environment", said Mr Jenkins who has also totally restored the inn to four star AA standards.

The building under reconstruction is to be converted to the hotel manager's accommodation; improved staff quarters and additional self catering cottages formed inside existing Cotswold stone buildings will follow.

Since acquisition by Mr Jenkins, the inn has gained a high reputation for its beautiful location in four acres of grounds, excellent food created by head chef Laurent Guillery and Robert's Pru Leith graduate daughter Elizabeth.

Journalist visits to see the hotel are always welcome; the location is also ideal for photoshoots, as the grounds contain a lake and the fast flowing River Coln. Call Robin Thompson, marketing consultant, to discuss any requirements you have : 07966 495908
